Connolly Statement on Republican Supplemental Funding Bill for Israel

Today, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), a senior member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the President Emeritus of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, released the following statement in strong opposition to House Republicans’ supplemental funding bill for Israel:

“Today, those who frequently tout themselves as friends of the State of Israel will for the first time vote to condition U.S. support for Israel. Their decision to play partisan politics with the lives of hostages and Israel’s security must be rejected outright. With today’s vote, Republicans don’t just decimate decades of precedent for support of Israel’s security and self-defense, they cross the Rubicon to imperil the longstanding bipartisan coalition that has supported the strong U.S.-Israel alliance.”
