Georgia Caucus Co-Chairs Issue Statement on New Visa Restrictions on Georgian Officials

Today, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) and Congressman Austin Scott (R-GA), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Georgia Caucus, released the following statement regarding the placement of new visa restrictions on four Georgian officials:

“We support the decision to issue visa bans on four Georgian judicial officials, members of Georgia’s High Council of Justice and court Chairmen, due to their involvement in “significant corruption.” As co-chairs of the Congressional Georgia Caucus, we continue to advocate for a strong U.S.-Georgia partnership and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations based on democratic institutions, the rule of law, accountability for those who engage in corruption, and an independent and impartial judiciary.”
