Congressman Gerry Connolly released the following statement on Secretary Foxx’s announcement  of  three new Federal representatives to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Board:

“Secretary Foxx’s three appointees offer important safety and oversight experience, and this clearly demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to making safety a priority at Metro.  I am particularly pleased by the appointment of FRA’s chief safety officer as the NTSB has repeatedly suggested FRA is best equipped to provide safety oversight until a new regional Metro Safety Commission is in place. Hopefully, these appointees are just the ticket to turn this train around.”
