Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, released the following statement on the Office of the National Cyber Director’s (ONCD) 2024 Report on the Cybersecurity Posture of the United States:

“I welcome the news that the Office of the National Cyber Director has either completed or is in the process of completing all 36 initiatives laid out in the first National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan (NCSIP). Version 2 of the NCSIP is a further demonstration that the Biden Administration is committed to cybersecurity resilience and continuous evolution and iteration in our cybersecurity planning and operations. 

Over the past decade, I have remained committed to FITARA and dedicated federal IT oversight. That includes ensuring the government does not allow its cybersecurity capabilities to stagnate. That is why the Subcommittee worked with the Biden Administration to develop specific metrics to measure agency adoption of key cybersecurity measures. These metrics, publicly scored and reported through Performance.gov, have been incorporated into the FITARA Scorecard as part of our FISMA/cyber metric. Together, we are pushing agencies to remain adaptive and embrace best practices in secure cloud computing and zero-trust adoption.
