Connolly Statement on Reports Justice Thomas Accepted Additional Trips

Today, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, a senior member of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, released the following statement after ProPublica’s reporting that Justice Clarence Thomas accepted additional travel gifts from billionaires. Connolly is a cosponsor of the Judiciary Act. The legislation that would expand the Supreme Court by adding four seats to create a 13-Justice bench.

“No Justice should accept these types of gifts,” Connolly said. “Thomas has repeatedly brought dishonor and ethical malpractice to our highest Court. I reiterate my call that he must resign. This is exactly why we need SCOTUS ethics reform.”
