Connolly Statement on IG Wertheimer's Planned Resignation
Washington,
June 29, 2021
Congressman Gerry Connolly, Chairman of the House Government Operations subcommittee, released the following statement following reports that Federal Housing Finance Agency Inspector General Laura Wertheimer will resign at the end of July. In April 2020, Connolly requested the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) look into reports that Wertheimer had acted inappropriately “Laura Wertheimer is the poster child for why the House will pass my Integrity Committee Reform Act today. We must hold inspectors general to the highest standards, and ensure transparency and ethics are at the forefront of every audit and investigation. Her conduct was destructive and abusive, and her departure is long overdue.” |
