Today, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Government Operations, demanded the resignation of Census Bureau Director Dr. Steven Dillingham, following a Commerce Department Inspector General memo found he pressured employees to pursue a technical report on the number of undocumented individuals in the United States. Connolly released the following statement: “Even in the waning days of this administration, Mr. Dillingham has now demonstrated he was willing to carry out Mr. Trump’s xenophobic campaign to manipulate the Census despite clear congressional and plain constitutional mandate to count all persons. He has disqualified himself and must resign or be removed.” |
