Chairs Maloney and Connolly Release Dismal Postal Data on National, Area, and District Delivery Rates for First Class Mail

Today, Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, and Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, the Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, released national, area, and district-level data showing continued poor on-time delivery rates of First Class mail nationwide.

“With the election less than a week away, the American people deserve to know about the continued, unacceptable delays in the delivery of First Class mail that could jeopardize their ability to have their votes counted,” said Chairwoman Maloney.  “Despite his assurances, the Postmaster General has failed to fix the problems he created and cannot be relied on for the on-time delivery of Election Mail.  At this point, Americans should either vote in person or drop their ballot in an official drop box to avoid their ballots not being delivered on time.”

“The latest Postal Service data confirms our fears that Postmaster General DeJoy's reckless and unexamined changes undoubtedly resulted in service disruptions right before the election,” said Chairman Connolly.  “Our Committee's investigation into this decision and its consequences must continue.”
