Connolly to Host Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday

Congressman Gerry Connolly will host his annual Congressional Art Competition Award Ceremony on Saturday, May 12 at 3:30 PM. The event will be held at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center in the McGuire Woods Gallery (Building 16).

“I am pleased to invite all Virginia 11th district student artists, their families, and art educators to join me in celebrating this year’s Congressional Art Competition Awards winners this Saturday,” said Congressman Connolly. “This year we had more than 130 incredible submissions from Prince William and Fairfax county students. I want to thank our students for their participation and for allowing us to display their immense creativity and artistic talents.”

The art exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Annual Congressional Art Competition provides Members of Congress with the unique opportunity to showcase the artistic creativity and talent of high school students from across the United States. The first place entry will be displayed for one year in the United States Capitol. The artist and his or her family will also be invited to a reception at the U.S. Capitol along with the winners from other Congressional Districts from around the country. One student will also be chosen by the Workhouse Art Center as this year’s “High School Rising Star” and have their artwork displayed at the Workhouse for one year. Additional prizes will be awarded to other top entries.
