After being named the Most Effective Lawmaker of the 117th Congress, my team and I hit the ground running to make sure the 118th Congress was equally productive. I am proud to report success in that regard.
Despite the chaos and dysfunction that has defined this Republican majority, I introduced dozens of pieces of legislation and cosponsored hundreds more. My bills cover a wide array of important issues, from IVF and family planning to veteran suicide prevention and help for our homeless youth. Here are just a few of the bills I was proud to introduce in the 118th Congress:
And we didn’t stop with bill introductions. My team and I worked with the Administration to win some important fights that will make life a little easier for Americans across the nation. For example, we ensured that every federal employee, no matter where they live or work, will now have access to health care plans that cover IVF and other assisted reproductive technology. This is an historic victory for millions of Americans in every corner of the country who will now be able to start and build families on their own terms. I intend to build on this progress to ensure every American has access to the same reproductive care.
To cap off another successful year, I had the honor of being elected by my colleagues to lead Democrats on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. I am humbled by the faith House Democrats have placed in me and I am ready to get to work to hold the Trump Administration accountable and protect our democracy from those who would seek to undermine it. The Oversight Committee will be a consequential one in the 119th Congress, and Committee Democrats are ready to fight the good fight in the years ahead.
To summarize, here’s a recap of my legislative work in the 118th Congress by the numbers:
- 492 bills cosponsored.
- 48 bills and resolutions introduced, including:
- Government Operations and Judiciary bills: 22
- International Affairs bills: 10
- Veterans and National Security Bills: 2
- Education bills: 2
- Immigration bills: 2

- Environmental Protection bills: 1
- 93 Committee hearings, markups, and roundtables.
