Connolly Applauds Announcement of $46 Million Federal Investment to Enhance EV Charging Reliability and Workforce Development

Today, Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA) applauded the Biden-Harris Administration’s announcement of $46.5 million for 30 projects in 16 states and Washington, D.C. to boost electric vehicle (EV) charging performance, resiliency, and reliability; support equitable access to clean transportation solutions; and grow the clean energy workforce. This historic funding was made available by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed by the 117th Congress and signed into law by President Biden in 2021.

Included in the list of funding recipients is a project led by Reston, VA-based company ICF to develop a new Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Service Provider pre-apprenticeship program. The project aims to further improve the EV charging experience by increasing the number of individuals trained in resolving common ESVE issues.

“I’m excited by this monumental investment in America’s EV charging network and the people who keep it running,” said Connolly. “I’m even more excited that companies in VA-11 will play a role in seeing this funding carried out. These dollars, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I was proud to support, represent our continued commitment to protecting our climate and growing a clean energy economy that benefits every American.”
