Dear Neighbor,
With tax season almost upon us, I'm writing to let you know that the Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is hosting a pre-filing season readiness event at 6:00 PM on January 26.
Our Local Taxpayer Advocate will partner with the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic to provide helpful information on how to avoid common tax filing errors and prevent delays in the processing of your return.
This event will be held virtually to accommodate as large an audience as possible and prepare the maximum number of taxpayers for this upcoming tax season.
Constituents will be able to join via this link or by calling in to (737) 253-8186. The Meeting ID will be 857837200#.
The Taxpayer Advocate Service is a separate branch of the IRS which advocates for taxpayer interests and works to resolve problems on taxpayers’ behalf. They report directly to Congress through the National Taxpayer Advocate, and their primary mission is to facilitate the quick, easy, and accurate processing of filed tax returns, whether by mail or online.
Tax season this year runs from January 23, 2023 to April 18, 2023. More information on this year's tax season is available here.
Taxpayers seeking further information or more resources to assist them in filing their 2022 taxes can visit the TAS website. Information on more upcoming TAS events can be found here.
My office works closely with TAS to assist constituents, whether to receive their refund, verify their identities, or just clear up confusion regarding their returns. If you are currently struggling with an IRS issue, please do not hesitate to reach out through my office’s casework request form.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other, and remember my office is always here to help. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you need assistance with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to call us at (703) 256-3071.
