Dear Neighbor,
This week, the Center for Effective Lawmaking released their ranking of the most effective Members of Congress -- and we're #1!
I introduced 51 pieces of legislation during the last Congress, 26 of which were considered in Committee or by the House, 11 of which were passed by the full House, and three of which were signed into law as standalone bills. Several more of my bills were included in the FY 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, which President Biden signed into law in December.
Among the enacted legislation were bills to codify a whole-of-government coordinator for global health security, strengthen the cybersecurity of cloud products and services, extend retirement benefits to disabled first responders, better protect federal whistleblowers, and solidify the federal government’s financial commitment to Metro.
All together, our efforts led to a Legislative Effectiveness Score of 7.142 -- the best in Congress and more than seven times higher than the average Member! To learn more about this year's scores, read the announcement from the Center for Effective Lawmaking here.
I'm incredibly proud of this recognition, but I promise our work doesn't stop here. My team and I have already hit the ground running on your behalf in the 118th Congress.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other, and remember my office is always here to help. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you need assistance with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to call us at (703) 256-3071.
