Dear Neighbor,
I just returned from the Polish border with Ukraine, where my colleagues and I on the House Foreign Affairs Committee spent the weekend observing the situation on the ground and assessing the needs of refugees on the border.
We heard from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, received briefings from US military officials, and witnessed firsthand the devastating humanitarian crisis sparked by Vladimir Putin's unprovoked aggression against the Ukrainian people.
I left Poland feeling grateful for the $1 billion in assistance President Biden has already provided to Ukraine, but fiercely determined to do more. As soon as this week, the House will consider a funding package that includes $10 billion in additional aid for Ukraine. I will fervently support such an effort.
The Ukrainian people are strong. They have shown us time and again their willingness to fight. They simply require the means to do so.
I will do all I can to ensure the US makes those means are available to them.
