Dear Neighbor,

The House is about to vote on the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, our third legislative response to COVID-19. There’s much I would like added to this legislation, there are offensive provisions I’d like deleted. But now is not the time to make perfect the enemy of the good.

This bill is Congress’ reaffirmation of the unstinting strength of the American people. It's a clarion statement in our faith in the future, a clear and forceful renewal in our unshakable belief that our country will rise from the present travail, tested, resilient and renewed.
