I know that many in our community are worried and uncertain about what’s to come over the next few weeks. The COVID-19 pandemic is a serious and rapidly evolving situation, but our community is strong and we will overcome this crisis together. I’d like to take a moment to share with you some of the vital resources available to Northern Virginians.

In addition to checking these sources for new information, it is critical that you follow all their announced guidelines and recommendations. The number of reported cases in the United States is growing, and that trend will continue without a collective, concerted effort to reverse it. No matter how healthy you feel, please remember to:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your face – especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Practice physical distancing and avoid close contact with others. Avoid hugs and handshakes, and stay away from crowds.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

Finally, parents and students should know that during the current school closure, Fairfax County Public Schools and Prince William County Public Schools are offering to-go breakfast and lunch to ALL children under the age of 18, without charge.
