Dear Neighbor,

I hope you and your families are continuing to stay safe and healthy as we continue our efforts to combat COVID-19.

Last month, the House passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, our comprehensive proposal to end police brutality and address the systemic racism that has marred American law enforcement efforts for generations. The legislation would:

  • End racial and religious profiling
  • Ban chokeholds and no-knock warrants
  • Keep military equipment off of American streets
  • Mandate the use of body cameras
  • Hold police accountable in court
  • Investigate police misconduct and improve transparency
  • Make lynching a federal crime

The Justice in Policing Act will bring much-needed accountability and transparency to our police system and, while no single piece of legislation can right every wrong, it goes a long way toward finally addressing the racial injustices and inequities that continue to plague institutions of authority in our country.

We are a country crying out for an end to the centuries-long scourge of racist police brutality that has stolen so many black lives from our communities.

But Mitch McConnell has yet to bring the Justice in Policing Act to the floor of the Senate for a vote.

So, I want to hear from you:

Should the Senate vote on the Justice in Policing Act?
