Dear Neighbor,

I want to take a moment to make sure you have the latest information regarding the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. While there is no cause for panic, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) considers COVID-19 a serious public health threat and it’s important you have information from trusted sources that will help prevent the disease from spreading further.

PREVENTION (source: CDC)

The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19. But there are also several simple and very effective ways to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. You should:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your face (especially your eyes, nose, and mouth) with unwashed hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
If you are sick, to keep from spreading any illness to others, you should:
  • Stay home except to get medical care.
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • Avoid sharing personal household items.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
