REMINDER: Apply for a Service Academy Nomination

Dear Neighbor,

This is a reminder that the deadline for submission of an application for nomination to a United States Service Academy is 5:00 pm, Friday, October 2, 2020.  Your application must be received in my Annandale office before the deadline in order to be considered.

The Service Academies have educated some of our nation’s finest leaders. Here in the 11th District, the acceptance rate into the academies is routinely among the highest in the nation. Nominating these young Americans for an appointment to  a service academy is among my most gratifying duties.

To assist me with selecting the most qualified candidates, I have formed Advisory Boards to interview prospective nominees. These boards are comprised of Academy graduates, former academy admissions officers and/or career military officers. These interviews will be scheduled between mid-October and early December. Due to the health risks posed by COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of the applicants, board members and my staff, the interviews will be conducted through Zoom.

Interviews will be scheduled only for those who have submitted complete application packages by the deadline. However due to the cancellation of SAT and ACT test dates this spring and summer, your package will be considered complete for interview purposes even if you have not taken the test or received your scores. The inability to provide test scores to my office will not be counted against you during the interview process, but I urge you to contact the Academy/ies directly to determine how they will be addressing this issue.

To be eligible for consideration for nomination to the Class of 2025, all applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 22 as of July 1, 2021 and must be a United States Citizen.

You can visit the Academy Nominations page on my website for more information. Please click here for my Congressional Nomination Procedures, and here for the Application for Nomination.

I wish you the very best as you pursue a nomination to an Academy and begin your career as an officer in a branch of our military! If you have any questions, please contact my Annandale District Office at 703-256-3071.

Sincerely,

Gerald E. Connolly
Member of Congress
