Connolly Statement on the Passing of Chairman Cummings

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Chairman of the Government Operations subcommittee, released the following statement on the passing of Chairman Elijah Cummings:

“The Congress and the nation have lost one of the great ones with the passing of Elijah Cummings. His passion, eloquence and decency were hallmarks of a leadership style that was born of humble roots. Elijah Cummings never forgot those roots or the Baltimore neighborhoods he represented. His barrel chested voice was a force to be reckoned with. It was my deep honor to call him friend. His passing leaves a void at a time of national crisis and a void in our hearts.”
